ERICK BAKER AND
MATTHEW KAHLER

1/27/2012  -   $14 in advance   $16 day of show  -  8 to 11 pm

Talk about a night filled with passionate and diverse talent! Erick opened up for Callaghans’ last show, and Matthew for Shawn Mullins – to nearly sold out audiences who clapped for more music from each = enough said about whether they are worth coming to see for their own co-bill evening at The Moon!

Erick Baker's unique voice and very personal songwriting style blends rock, pop, soul, blues, country, folk – into a distinctive genre he calls "American Music". He has toured with James Blunt, Gavin Degraw, Edwin McCain, Goo Goo Dolls, Grace Potter, Brandi Carlisle and Heart, where his aching intensity and deeply soulful delivery connect him to his audience in a way that is at once genuine and memorable.
Matthew Kahler once did dueling shows with Grammy nominee Shawn Mullins. Ever since his name has been associated with the legends of the Atlanta performing songwriting scene along with The Indigo Girls, Zac Brown, Kristian Bush, Jennifer Nettles,  Clay Cook, and John Mayer who says that “Matthew has written some of my favorite lines”. Kristian Bush of Sugarland calls Matthew “the unleashed one”.  There will be passionate performing with a capital P  times two!

Music that breathes. That's really the most fitting description for the essence of Erick Baker's songs. Since releasing his debut EP, It's Getting Too Late To Say It's Early, in 2008, Erick's unique voice and very personal songwriting style have led listeners through music rich with themes that connect us all – hopes, fears, love, and loss. A skillful blend of widely divergent influences -- rock, pop, soul, blues, country, folk – has resulted in a distinctive genre he calls "American Music".

Erick grew up in a small town in Tennessee and, after graduating from college, saw the blank canvas of his future impulsively begin to fill with music. A lyrical path that began in Knoxville's pubs and bars led to an offer to open for musical icon John Legend. Since then Erick has toured with a variety of artists, including James Blunt, Gavin Degraw, Edwin McCain, Goo Goo Dolls, Grace Potter, Brandi Carlisle and Heart.  His  musical journey has been forged largely with the haunting lyrical honesty that pervades his songwriting. "These are songs from real places," he says. "To me, a song has to mean something. It can't just sound good." The authenticity of Erick's songs, simply put, are an honest, reflective window on themes central to the emotional cornerstones of our lives. It is music that has proven universally appealing, uniting fans and cutting seamlessly across lines of age, lifestyle and musical taste. It's music that, once heard, can't be ignored.

As a result, Erick's live performances set him apart in his genre. "That's when my songs are at their best," he declares. "I want people to feel the songs, the words, not just hear them." That philosophy is borne out when Erick is onstage; his aching intensity and deeply soulful delivery connect him to his audience in a way that is at once genuine and memorable.

Matthew Kahler’s magic as a gifted songwriter and unparalleled performer became known to the Eddie’s Attic crowd of Decatur, Georgia in the days when he did dueling shows with Grammy nominee Shawn Mullins. From  those days on, Matthew’s name has been associated with the legends of the Atlanta performing songwriting scene along with The Indigo Girls, Zac Brown, Kristian Bush, Jennifer Nettles,  Clay Cook, John Mayer, and more. In addition to co-writing with Mullins, Matthew has had a productive solo career wowing crowds throughout the country.  John Mayer says that “Matthew has written some of my favorite lines”, and Kristian Bush of Sugarland calls Matthew “the unleashed one”. Whether he is driving the crowd with his passion and the conga or melting hearts with his tender songs and beautiful guitar, Matthew Kahler can hold the attention of a crowd. He may have started out one of many as the seventh child of nine in Albany, Georgia, but he’s worked his way to the prime of his career as one of the country’s finest singer songwriters.  Matthew Kahler is now front, center, and ready to entertain.
