'Red Room' Piano Bar

Hosted by Rick harris

Friday & Saturday, November 11 & 12

9;30 - 11;30 PM Absolutely Free!

Dahlonega’s ‘music man’, Rick Harris, plays ‘step back in time a bit’ songs from the 1920’s to the 1960’s on the corner on the piano, with horn in hand of course, and folks singing along when the ‘spirit’ moves them!

The c.1858 Half Moon Saloon’s new Red Room Piano Bar is the perfect place to step upstairs for after dinner  or show entertainment,  drinks, dessert, or even an evening snack from our Half Moon Saloon’s new ‘Moonlight Menu’, (served 9 to 11pm  on Friday and Saturday nights starting Oct. 21st! ) The repertoire of multi-instrumentalist and singer host, Rick Harris, includes 100’s of the ‘Old Standards’, Stride and Rag Time music from the 1920’s and forward, as  well as blues, honky-tonk, and rock/pop tunes from the 1960’s and 70’s. With many years accompanying fine singers - and many horn/string playing friends in the area - you never know who’ll show up to join him ‘stepping back in time’ a bit on his 88 keys!

EDWARDS, CLARK, FLYNN and JENKINS
The 'core' of CULLOWHEE returns!

Saturday, November 12 ~ 8;00 - 10;00+

$18 Advance Reservations / $20 Day of Show

After two sold-out shows in May by the semi-retired 'Mountain Rock' band Cullowhee, the trio who originally started the band returns for a rare 'core of Cullowhee' appearance! The 'Mountain Rock' band, Cullowhee, that was on stages everywhere during the 70's and 80's, began at Western Carolina University in 1974 with the core trio of Terry Edwards, Mike Clark, and Sandy Flynn. The band stopped touring a number of years ago, but they still do occasional 'reunion' concerts, where the huge number of fans that show up prove they could have kept touring forever. Early reservations are recommended!

The seeds for the band were planted at Western Carolina University as "Edwards, Clark, & Flynn" in 1974 when Terry Edwards of Cashiers, Mike Clark of Charlotte, and Sandy Flynn of Cullowhee, formed a trio to share their original songs. Influenced by the sounds of Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, many folk, bluegrass, gospel, country, and rock artists of the time, Cullowhee originated a unique musical genre encompassing all these sounds that has been since dubbed 'Mountain Rock.' The band grew to six members over time with the addition of Western graduate and multi-instrumentalist Thom Jenkins, singer/songwriter F.T. "Rick" Hubbard, and superb electric guitarist Woody Jenkins. The band toured nationally and internationally and released numerous recordings. Their musical connection with their fans, together with their offbeat humor on stage, and their unique personalities, built the band a huge following that exists to this day and often sells out every one of their reunion concerts in a matter of days. Their music definitely appeals to all ages that like Americana music - as they are one of the groups that actually helped to define 'Americana' music!

'OLD TIME' MUSIC JAM

Hosted by Whistling Rufus

Sunday, November 13 ~ 2;00 - 5;00 PM

Absolutely Free!

Continuing a 100 year old tradition of pickin’, singin’, and grinnin’ in the c. 1858
Parker-Nix Storehouse where The Crimson Moon Cafe is located!

Multi talented local musicians and band members from several different area bands usually host this nearly 100 year weekly tradition in the c.1858 Parker Nix Storehouse where The Crimson Moon Café makes its home. Blue Grass, Old Time, Country/Blues standards, and American Folk are the most likely tunes to bubble up, but any American ‘traditional’ music is welcome.  Occasionally, the owner of The Crimson Moon Café climbs on stage to join them for a few songs as well, but anyone who knows how to play an instrument or sing is welcome to join in – often with talented musicians picking on their instruments to back you up if desired!

The 2nd Sunday of the month is limited to ‘Old Time’ Music and is often led by Whistling Rufus’
comprised of Ann Whitley, Doug Singleton, and Doug & Cindy Olsen

Three fiddling friends with fabulous sister-like harmonies bring their well honed talents on fiddle to the stage - and share it with the Ga. Pick & Bow School band for an evening of very eclectic and inspiring traditional music!

Ann Whitley, Jan Smith and Barbara Panter are 'The Rosin Sisters': three fiddlers; three friends; three women who love to play and sing together who've been doing just that for over 25 years in the Atlanta area and beyond. After singing in an all women a Capella group, the Divas, they decided to form The Rosin Sisters to further explore their love of singing and fiddle music. They especially love the rich heritage of music that comes out of the Appalachian and Southern regions of America, which is the genre of music that the Ga. Pick & Bow Traditional Music School exists to preserve. Come join in the fun - where 80% of the ticket price goes to support this wonderful cause!
